Aims

The Aims of the Fletchers’ Trust

The Fletchers’ Trust is the charitable arm of the Worshipful Company of Fletchers, dedicated to upholding the Company’s historic commitment to service, inclusion, and community support. Our mission is to make a lasting impact through targeted giving, with a particular focus on enabling access to archery for individuals with disabilities, supporting educational initiatives, and contributing to broader charitable causes within the City of London and beyond.

Supporting Archers with Disabilities

At the heart of the Trust’s work is our enduring support for disabled archers across the United Kingdom. Since 2004, we have proudly backed Team GB Paralympic Archers, whose achievements include a gold medal in the Compound Open Mixed Team and a bronze in the Women’s Open Compound at the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games. Looking ahead to Los Angeles 2028, we continue to fund training, equipment, and classification improvements to ensure athletes have the resources they need to excel .

Beyond elite competition, the Trust provides grants for equipment such as bows, arrows, shooting stools, and wheelchairs, as well as covering travel and competition costs. We also assist clubs in improving accessibility, helping to foster inclusive environments where archers of all abilities can thrive .

Championing Inclusion Through Archery

The Trust is committed to promoting archery as a gateway sport that offers physical and mental health benefits. We support initiatives in collaboration with organizations like Activity Alliance and Access Sport to highlight the sport's inclusivity .

A notable example is our support for Piangfan Naksukpaiboon, an autistic archer and PhD candidate in genomics. With a grant from the Trust, she has been able to pursue her dream of representing Great Britain, while also advocating for greater inclusivity in sports .

Educational and Community Engagement

The Trust extends its support to educational institutions, including the City of London Academy Islington, where we sponsor two annual house prizes. Through the Livery Schools Link, our members volunteer their expertise to help students develop vital skills for their futures .

We also support apprenticeships at Mudchute Park and Farm, a children's sanctuary in the Isle of Dogs, providing young people with opportunities to gain practical experience and develop new skills .

Commitment to City and Pan-Livery Charities

In line with our heritage, the Trust contributes to various charitable initiatives within the City of London. Our support includes donations to the Lord Mayor’s Appeal, the Sheriffs’ and Recorder’s Fund, and the London Legal Giving Week. We have also supported the No Going Back initiative, which aims to achieve lasting rehabilitation of offenders.

During the COVID-19 crisis, the Trust broadened its support to include organizations such as the Cavell Nurses’ Trust, Spitalfields City Farm, Pembroke House Food Bank, the Livery Kitchens Initiative, and Clapham Boys Club, demonstrating our adaptability and commitment to addressing emerging needs .

Military Affiliations and Cadet Support

As one of the five ‘Warrior’ Livery Companies, the Worshipful Company of Fletchers maintains strong affiliations with military units, both Regular and Reserve, as well as cadet forces. The Trust supports these affiliations through annual awards and other forms of recognition, fostering a spirit of service and excellence among young cadets .

Through these diverse initiatives, the Fletchers’ Trust remains steadfast in its mission to promote inclusion, support education, and uphold the values of the Worshipful Company of Fletchers. Our work continues to make a meaningful difference in the lives of individuals and communities, staying true to our motto: “True and Sure.”

Look forward to LA

Our support for Team GB Paralympic Archers

For LA 2028 the Fletchers Trust are providing funds to help in training and support for the Paralympic Archers over their four year selection programme, as well as support to improve communication and processes around classification, including increasing the number of classifiers, together with improving access and developing the scope of inclusive competitions.
